Game Rules
A game of Cubis consist of up to three levels. Each level begins with a number of cubes already arranged on the board. You add additional cubes to the level, one by one, as you play.
You remove cubes from the board by forming "chains" of three or more adjacent cubes of the same color. Diagonals do not count. That is, to form a chain, cubes must be touching facetoface, not edgetoedge or cornertocorner.
Every level has a goal for the number of cubes you must remove in order to complete the level. The "Cubes To Go" display shows how many more cubes you have to remove to reach this goal. If you reach the goal before time runs out, you continue on to the next level. The game ends after the third level, even if you have completed it successfully.
You can choose any of the seven rows or columns in which to add the next cube. Cubes can only be added from the two front sides of the board, not from the rear two sides. Added cubes slide along their row or column until reaching a cube that's already on the board, or until reaching the far end of the board.
When you form a chain, points are scored and the cubes that make up the chain are removed from the board. Cubes above them then drop down to fill in the unoccupied spaces. When this happens, additional chains can be formed. A second or subsequent chain formed on the same turn is called a "Cubis" and gives you bonus points.
Here's a rundown of all the different types of cubes in Cubis, and how they behave:
 Normal Cubes  These cubes may be present on the board at the start of the level, and may be part of the stream of cubes to be added. They come in six colors: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple. There is a small penalty for each Normal Cube left on the board at the end of the level.

 If a Normal Cube reaches the edge of the board, it stops.
 If it reaches a Stone Cube, it stops.
 If it reaches a Cracked Cube, it destroys the Cracked Cube, and continues in its path.
 When it reaches a Normal Cube or a Star Cube with nothing behind it, it pushes that cube one square, and then stops.
 When it reaches a Normal Cube or a Star Cube with a Cracked Cube behind it, it pushes that cube one square, destroying the Cracked Cube, and then stops.
 When it reaches a Normal Cube or a Star Cube with any nonCracked Cube behind it, it stops.
 Star Cubes  These cubes may be present on the board at the start of the level, but are never part of the stream of cubes to be added. They come in all six colors. Note that Star Cubes give you a large bonus for their removal, and also give you a large penalty if you leave them on the board at the end of the level.

 Wedge Cubes  These cubes are never part of the starting setup of the board, but may be part of the stream of cubes to be added. Once added, they turn into Normal Cubes, and in some circumstances can lift up cubes already on the board. (Note that no stack of cubes can ever exceed three high.) Wedge Cubes come in all six colors.

 When a Wedge Cube reaches the edge of the board, it stops and turns into a Normal Cube of the same color.
 When it reaches a Stone Cube, it stops and turns into a Normal Cube.
 When it reaches any cube which is the part of a stack of three cubes, it stops and turns into a Normal Cube.
 When it reaches any cube which has a Stone Cube on top of it, it stops and turns into a Normal Cube.
 When it reaches any cube with no other cubes on top of it, it lifts up that cube, assumes the square under it, and turns into a Normal Cube.
 When it reaches any cube with one other nonStone Cube on top of it, it lifts up that cube, assumes the square under it, and turns into a Normal Cube.
 Osmosis Cubes  These cubes are never part of the starting setup of the board, but may be part of the stream of cubes to be added. Once added, they turn into Normal Cubes, and in some circumstances can change the color of cubes already on the board. They come in all six colors.

When an Osmosis Cube reaches the edge of the board, it stops and turns into a Normal Cube of the same color.
 When it reaches a Stone Cube, it stops and turns into a Normal Cube.
 When it reaches any cube which is part of a stack of three cubes, it stops and turns into a Normal Cube.
 When it reaches any cube which has a Stone Cube on top of it, it stops and turns into a Normal Cube.
 When it reaches a Normal Cube or a Cracked Cube with no cubes on top of it, it turns the impacted cube into a stack of two Normal Cubes, with both the color of the Osmosis Cube.
 When it reaches a Normal Cube or a Cracked Cube with one other cube on top of it, it turns the impacted cube into a stack of two Normal Cubes, the color of the Osmosis Cube, lifting the covering cube in the process.
 When it reaches a Star Cube with no cubes on top of it, it turns the Star Cube into a stack of a Normal Cube atop a Star Cube, with both the color of the Osmosis Cube.
 When it reaches a Star Cube with one other cube on top of it, it turns the impacted cube into a stack of a Normal Cube atop a Star Cube, the color of the Osmosis Cube, lifting the covering cube in the process.
 Cracked Cubes  These cubes may be part of the starting setup of the board, but are never part of the stream of cubes to be added. Normal Cubes on the board will turn into Cracked Cubes if they drop two layers, or if they drop one layer and have another cube on top of them. Cracked Cubes will be destroyed by any Normal Cube that impacts them, without impeding its progress. Cracked Cubes come in all six colors, and can be used to form chains. There is a small penalty for Cracked Cubes that are left on the board at the end of the level.

 Stone Cubes  These cubes may be part of the starting setup of the board, but are never part of the stream of cubes to be added. They cannot be pushed, and they do not drop even if the cube under them is removed. They can only be removed from the board by Laser Cubes. Stone Cubes come only in gray, and can never be part of a chain.

 Laser Cubes  These cubes are never part of the starting setup of the board, but may be part of the stream of cubes to be added. Rather than sliding into their row or column, they shoot into it, destroying the first cube they reach. Laser Cubes are the only thing that can remove Stone Cubes, and thus are useful for clearing them away in order to reach the cubes beyond them. Note that destroying a cube with a Laser Cube only reduces your "Cubes To Go" counter by 1; the Laser Cube itself doesn't count. If a Laser Cube is shot into an empty row or column, it has no effect, and the "Cubes To Go" counter remains unchanged.
The "Time" display shows how many second you have left to complete the level. If you remove the specified number of cubes before time runs out, you get a time bonus for your unused seconds, and proceed onto the next level (unless you are already on the final level, Level 3). However, if your "Time" display reaches 0 before your "Cubes To Go" counter reaches 0, the game ends immediately.

Fairness
If you have played other versions of Cubis, you know that you get the same sequence of levels each time you play. In WorldWinner's version of Cubis, however, you get three different levels each time you play.
Different levels of Cubis offer very different scoring potential; one level might have a score potential of only 4,000, while another level might have a score potential of 15,000.
In order to make Cubis tournaments fair, WorldWinner gives every player in a tournament a set of three levels with the same score potential. So, your score may vary widely from tournament to tournament, but if you play multiple games within the same tournament your score will fall within a much smaller range.
Furthermore, if you play a Cubis TopThis! competition, levels are selected with a scoring potential that corresponds to your TopThis! target score.

Game Controls
Move your mouse to the left or right to select the row or column where you want to add the next cube. The selected row or column will highlight to show the projected path of the cube.
Click your left mouse button to launch the cube into the selected row or column. (Or, in the case of a Laser Cube, to shoot it into that row or column.) You cannot click to launch a cube until all movement and cube removals from the previouslyadded cube are complete.
Note that the mouse cursor will "stick" at the left, right, and bottom sides of the window for 1 second, in order to avoid accidentally changing the focus to a different window on your desktop. If you do want to click outside your Cubis gameplay window, just move your mouse cursor in that direction, and wait 1 second. Or, you can move the mouse out through the top of the window with no delay.

Game Scoring
When a chain is formed, the points for the chain are based on the following rules:
A Normal Cube or Cracked Cube at "ground level" is worth 30 points; on the second level, 60 points; on the third level, 90 points.
Star Cubes are worth 10 times as much: a Star Cube at the lowest level is worth 300 points; on the second level, 600 points; on the third level, 900 points.
Any chain containing 4 cubes has its point value multiplied by oneandathird; any chain of 5 cubes has its point value multiplied by oneandtwothirds; any chain of 6 cubes has its point value multiplied by two; and so forth.
When a sliding Normal Cube destroys a Cracked Cube, it scores 30 points. If the same Normal Cubes destroys a second Cracked Cube, it scores 60 points. A third scores 90 points, and so forth.
When a Laser Cube destroys a Normal, Cracked, or Stone Cube, it scores 30 points.
When a Laser Cube destroys a Star Cube, it scores 200 points.
You receive a score bonus for making a Cubis (the second or subsequent chain formed on the same turn. The second chain in the turn has its point value multiplied by oneandathird; the third chain in the turn has its point value multiplied by oneandtwothirds; the fourth chain in the turn has its point value multiplied by two; and so forth.
At the end of the level, you receive a time bonus of 10 points for each second remaining on the clock.
At the end of the level, you receive a penalty of 15 points for each Normal or Cracked Cube remaining on the board.
At the end of the level, you receive a penalty of 150 points for each Star Cube remaining on the board.
Example 1: WandaWedge forms a chain of 3, consisting of a Star Cube and a Normal Cube at the lowest level, and a Normal Cube at the second level. The point value for the chain is 300 + 30 + 60, or 390 points.
Example 2: OsmosisOzzie forms a chain of 4, consisting of two Normal Cubes at the lowest level, a Star Cube at the second level, and a Normal Cube at the third level. The point value for the chain is (30 + 30 + 600 + 90) * 1.333, or 1000 points.
Example 3: LaserLenny forms a chain of 5, consisting of three Normal Cubes at the lowest level and two Normal Cubes at the second level. The chain was part of a Cubis, and was the second chain formed in that turn. The point value for the chain is (30 + 30 + 30 + 60 + 60) * 1.667 * 1.333, or 467 points.

Game Strategy
Your primary goal is to reach the Cubes To Go goal before time runs out, so that you can advance to the next level.
After that, your highest goal should be to remove all the Star Cubes on the board, since they give the greatest number of points, and also saddle you with the largest penalty at the end of the level if not removed.
Remember that you get more points for a cube if it is above ground level. If a Star Cube is already on the second or third level, try to remove it before allowing it to drop to ground level. If a Star Cube is at ground level, try to use Wedge Cubes to raise it before removing it.
Since Stone Cubes can only be removed by Laser Cubes, you probably only want to use a Laser Cube against a nonStone Cube if there are no Stone Cubes available to be removed, or if you can use it to remove a Star Cube and the level is almost over.
Use the colorchanging properties of Osmosis Cubes to remove even cubes of different colors. For example, two green Osmosis Cubes can be used to remove a red Star Cube. (The first Osmosis Cube will turn the red Star Cube into a green Normal Cube atop a green Star Cube; the second Osmosis Cube will create a chain that removes them.)
Cubes that seem inaccessible, because their row and column are blocked by Stone Cubes, can be removed by adding cubes to "build out" from the edge of the board until the seemingly inaccessible cube is reached.
